How To Resell Domains Your Domain Names

HOW DO YOU RESELL YOUR DOMAIN NAME?

If you already own a domain name that you have not yet developed a website for, and will no longer be using, it is possible for you offer the domain name for sale.

There are always buyers looking for quality domain names to buy. Domain names are being sold for as little as the cost of their annual subscription, to as much as 12 million dollars, as we have seen in recent years.

Where Do You Sell Domains?
There are a few domain aftermarket sites on which you can list your domain name for sale. Some of these offer a free listing service, while some will charge either an annual membership fee or a listing fee.

The problem that I find with a lot of these websites listing domain names for sale is that you often have to search and sift through a lot of rubbish domains before finding one that has any reasonable premium quality.

However, domain marketplaces such as eBusinessDomains.com will be very selective about the domains they list, and will offer domains at reasonable prices. If you have a top quality domain name that is brandable and generic, marketplaces such as eBusinessDomains.com will be happy to list it for sale. In some cases, EbusinessDomains.com will even offer to buy your domain name.

One marketplace that we highly recommend that you list your domain at is Exdon.com. This is a free marketplace where domain listings are free, sellers and buyers negotiate directly with each other, and no commission is charged on sales. Exdon.com, an acronym for Exchange for Domain Names, is quite popular with both buyers and sellers.

On free listing websites, it may be best to pay for additional services such as Showcase/Homepage listing to get maximum exposure for your domain name. Domains that are listed in categories tend to sell much faster as well.

One easy way to indicate that your domain name is for sale is to put a “This Domain Name is For Sale” text/graphic on the website/landing page. Most domain parking service providers will facilitate this on their landing pages. To learn more a bout domain parking, visit the domain parking resource centre at eBusinessDomains.com (on main navigation bar). Some registrars such as Widest.com will provide a free “For-Sale” landing page.

How Much is Your Domain Worth?
The easiest way to get a general idea as to how much your domain name is worth is to get a domain appraisal done for the domain name. You can order one at Widest.com.

The value of a domain name will be ascertained by a number of factors, including its length, keywords, relevant industry, and TLD (e.g. .COM, .NET, etc).

Regardless of whatever method that is used to value a domain name, a premium domain is only worth what a buyer is willing to pay for it. However the seller would never sell a domain for less that what the domain is worth to them. So really, a domain name is worth what the buyer and seller can agree on to make a deal.

You could simply list the domain without an asking price and monitor the bids over a period of time if you are unsure of the price.

If you were to visit any domain reseller sites, especially the free-listings ones, you will find literally thousands of ridiculous domain names. You would be shocked when you scrutinize their asking prices.

These ridiculous domains run into the thousands and even millions. I am personally amazed at the fact somehow, someone with enough sense to conduct a credit card transaction would want to register those domains in the first place. Even if they were paying me to accept those domains I would still have to think twice.

Domain names such as MonkeyTalkingIdiots.com are useless. To quickly see if your name is worth anything, ask yourself this question: “If I was looking for a domain name to brand my website with, would I buy this domain?” If the answer is no, simply let the domain name expire, as it will probably not sell. If your answer is yes, ask yourself “How much would I be prepared to pay for it?” Your answer will give you an approximate asking price.
