When a visitor lands at your website, they spend less than a second to make a decision about your website. The first impression really counts. If you lose that advantage, then you could lose a potential customer forever.
This is yet another reason why branding is so important. In a nutshell, the brand is not the domain name. However, the quality of the domain name can assist the branding process by creating instant credibility. Branding is all about the user experience.
We have spent the last 6 months testing a lot of concepts at Aeroplanes.com. Without any much promotion, we are already reaping some positive results. However, we still have some hurdles to cross before we can announce the brand to the world.
In these early days, we have the best opportunities to test different strategies and gather key marketing data. When the publicity and marketing flood gates are opened, it will not be as easy to pinpoint what works and what does not.
Our branding efforts at Aeroplanes.com are taking shape. The good thing is that with the site being live, we are gaining traction as we go along with our testing. With websites and online branding, you don’t normally reap the results until 12 to 24 months later. What we do now will determine how successful we are in 24 months.
We have already seen loads of sites copying the Aeroplanes.com style and design. That is easy. But copying originality, creativity, strategies and methodologies is not easy. Either you have got it, or you don’t.
We have some new and exciting projects launching very soon. Stay tuned.

Online branding is one reason why websites will not die out against Facebook pages.
