We are now in day four of the logo contest for Aeroplanes.com, and already over 125 entries have been submitted.

The entries are getting better and better, and we now feel confident to guarantee the prize.

There are some concepts that we are really excited about, and it is getting extremely hard to select favourites. Each day, we see new concepts being submitted that change the game altogether.

Although this brand will be taken through many stages before we reach the end-result, we really can’t get started until we have the perfect logo to work with.

In the travel industry, there are lots of companies to choose from when making travel reservations. Branding is extremely important. We are extremely fortunate to have one of the most powerful domain names in this space. However, even the best of domains need the right logo in order to successfully create and build a brand identity.

Greetings from a very wet London! Why do I live in a place with such miserable weather? But then, I think I know why. I love travelling, and when you live in a wet and miserable place like London, you really want to just hop on an aeroplane and fly somewhere exotic!

If I lived in a sunny and wonderful city or country, I don’t think I would be tempted to travel that much.

Speaking of travel and aeroplanes, our logo contest for Aeroplanes.com over at 99Design is in full swing! On the first day of the contest, I was starting to think that 99Designs was over-rated. I pondering if it wouldn’t have been better to have the logo created a branding specialist/firm.

I am still hoping to see a lot more unique and original concepts for the design, but I think I should be able to choose a winner as it stands.

If you are graphics designer, you will definitely want to be the winner of this contest! I intend to take this brand to the skies, literally! You will want to say “I designed the logo for Aeroplanes.com!”

By the way, take a look at the logo for the London 2012 Olympics? It has got to be the ugliest thing I have ever seen.

Can you believe that thing cost taxpayers £400,000 (US$662,912)?

Don’t have a heart attack. According to this article, it was more for the development of a complete visual identity system. When you read this article and do further research, you just can’t help but appreciate the importance of branding.

If you want to sell domains to end-users, you have to understand the concept of branding. A good place to start is to study the logics and thinking behind the design of the London 2012 logo.

However, with that been said, the logo is just damn disgusting. The Daily Mail (UK) even reported that the controversial 2012 Olympics logo ran into more trouble as it emerged that a video promoting it had triggered migraines and epileptic fits.

I have done the extensive research, and it is now time to start putting things into action.

As per my blog post on Sunday, I will be seeking to get at least 2 brands off the ground by year-end.

After browsing through our extensive domain portfolio, and conducting extensive research, I have decided to start the development process for Aeroplanes.com.

Aeroplanes.com is one of our top domain names. When I acquitted this domain name some years ago, I immediately knew that this domain was not for resale.

I listed Aeroplanes.com for sale at here at eBusinessDomains.com for the sole purpose of adding some class and prestige to our domain marketplace. However, Aeroplanes.com was never really for sale. I have received well over 100 offers for this domain name. Given my love and passion for flying and aeroplanes, I would only consider a damn good 7-figure offer.
