This is the first of a ten-part series that should provide some guidance to newbies on how to legitimately make money with domains and developed websites in a risk-free fashion.

There are loads of scams out there promising quick riches and overnight success. The only thing that will happen overnight with these scams is that you will lose your life savings, and perhaps the shirt on your back.

Success is the result of hard work. There is no shortcut to success. Yes, you can make money online. You can make boatloads of money online. You can even earn life-changing income online!

However one needs to know how to do it, and how to prevent losing money rather than making money.

If you are one of those people that trawl blogs and forums or spend a fortune on ebooks trying to find the perfect get-rich quick scheme, then close this browser window, now.

A lot of people don’t make money from their developed websites because most websites were developed without even considering their online objectives, much less any monetizing strategies.

There are over 100 ways to make money online; however, in this series I will focus on 10 of my favourite ideas.

Here is the first method of making money online with your domain name or website:

1. Pay Per Click (PPC) Advertising
Domainers, people who make money buying, selling and monetizing domain names use PPC regularly to make money online through what is called domain parking.

With a developed website, you can place ads from other networks on your website by cutting and pasting code from the particular ad network to your website. The most popular options for this strategy are Google Adsense and Yahoo! Publisher Network (YPN). At present Yahoo! Only provide their services to US citizens as the YPN is currently in Beta.

You will need to sign up with a network to begin the process. I only have less than an hour to write, edit and publish this entire series, so I will do the necessary research at a later date and update the series with relevant links.

How does PPC Work?
It works like this: you determine where on your website the ads will be displayed and insert the code accordingly. You will need to know some basic html in order to do this although some content management systems such as WordPress could handle this automatically with the right plugins.

Visitors to your website will click on these ads and you will receive a certain amount of money from the network for each click. The amount received ranges from a few cents to a few dollars and is largely dependent on your website niche and the keywords that are associated with the ads being displayed. The more visitors your website receives, the more money you can possibly make.

The ads displayed are usually related to the content/keyword of your website.
