So many domains here include the word Bangalore – which now has been changed to Bengaluru.

Bengaluru means ‘a bowl of baked beans.’ In the Gurkhas, bangalores were devices used to clear obstacles such as barb wire.

I think this list shows the value of geodomains, especially those outside of US market. Opportunities like this still may exist, although likely not as comprehensive. I think yellowpages show many great industries and opportunities to seek out domains: drycleaners, plumbers, etc.

    Hello.

Thank you Widest Media for helping us sell this portfolio. Just a quick background. We had purchased these domains for a direct navigation concept (similiar to Marchex) for India. Unfortunately we decided to focus our resources on other internet related concepts. The logic behind purchasing the names was as follows: We wanted to maintain a common syntax for all the tier 1 domain names: http://www.CityTypeVertical.com (eg. MumbaiShoeStores.com) and we wanted to purchase keyword related domains that would help accesorze the traffic to the tier 1 domain (eg. MumbaiShoes.com, MumbaiLeather.com)

Considering that India is one of the largest growing internet populations in the world (triples every year), let alone one of the largest populations in the world. This would be a great opportunity for a domain investor to go long on these domains. manhattanshoestores.com, I believe sold for ~$1000 recently.

We are not a domainer or domain based buisiness, our core competency is to build and advise startup companies. Thus we are looking for any decent proposal that will help even our original investment.

Thanks and feel free to direct any questions to the folks at Widest Media or to info[at]subtledisruption.com
